Palestine: 2 Palestinians killed, 5 injured in Israeli raid in West Bank

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA): Two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli raid in the West Bank city of Jenin on Thursday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Israeli Knesset member Itamar Ben-Gvir forced his way on Thursday into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem protected by Israeli police.

A ministry statement said the two youths aged 17 and 23 were gunned down when Israeli forces raided the city.

Five Palestinians were also injured, including one seriously, the statement said.

The Israeli army said its forces carried out a military campaign in the Jenin refugee camp to arrest what it said “wanted” Palestinians.

A military statement said Israeli forces responded to Palestinian fire, adding that an Israeli soldier was lightly injured.

On Tuesday, five Israelis were killed in a shooting attack in the central city of Bnei Brak, Israel, by a Palestinian from Jenin. Israeli police shot dead the Palestinian.

Meanwhile, Israeli settlers attacked Wednesday Palestinian cars in Nablus, in Rameen village, north of Tulkarem, near Sinjil town, north of the city, as well as at the northern entrance of al-Bireh city, and in the Salfit district, Israeli settlers sneaked their way into Marda village, north of the city, and vandalized a number of the villagers’ vehicles, smashing their windshields.

In Jerusalem, an Israeli settler ran over a youth from Silwan neighborhood on Tuesday evening, before he fled the scene. The victim was transferred to a hospital for treatment.

In related news, several Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian shepherd with Molotov cocktails, causing burns to various parts of his body.

On Wednesday at dawn, illegal Israeli colonizers cut at least 170 Palestinian olive trees in an orchard in the al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya town and burnt a car in Asira al-Qibliya, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

The Israeli army frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.
