Welcome to SHMA-UK.ORG

Third Annual Discover Islam Event

The Surrey Heath Muslim Association will once again be teaming up with Discover Islam to bring together the Third Annual  “What is Islam?” exhibition.  The event will be taking place at the Ian Goodchild Centre, Knoll Road, Camberley on 14 June, 2014.  Doors will be opening at 11am with free entrance!   Everyone one is welcome, though we particularly welcome non-Muslims to introduce them to our religion.

We hope to introduce people to our beautiful religion and dispel some of the many myths that are floating around about Islam.  Come along and learn about the five Pillars of Islam, Muslim beliefs and practices.  There will also be various activities for everyone to participate in (such as henna painting, multimedia experiences and games for the children).  Free food and drink will also be available on the day throughout the event.

Annual General Meeting 2015 Overview

On the 10th May, the SHMA held its Annual General Meeting at the Heatherside Community Centre.  The event proved to be a good occasion where everyone was able to get together and catch up with what the Association has been doing over the last year; and to socialise afterwards.

Aims & Objectives

In early 2007 a small number of Muslim families living in Camberley and Farnborough came together to discuss issues in community.  Realising that our needs were not being met it was decided to form a community organisation that could lend a voice and work to realise our needs.

We work with other organisations including the local and county councils, the police, health organisations and other bodies to ensure that our needs are catered for and also to provide a conduit for them to get their own messages into the Muslim community.  It is only be working together that we can ensure that Muslim community in our area can play its full and proper part in the wider community.

As an association we are non-profit making and rely very much on volunteers to help in carrying out our work.  We are registered with the Charity Commission.

We provide a number of services and activities covering education, fitness and burial services.  We also regularly hold social gatherings including an annual summer event which is attended by over 300 people each year which is open to everyone.

If you would like to find out more information about our work or indeed if you want to join us, feel free to contact us on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
