Widespread rain likely Sunday night into Monday
Sunday evening we are expecting a strong disturbance aloft to move over the southern Plains. This coupled with abundant moisture and instability will make severe weather possible on a widespread basis Sunday evening. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary concerns but a landspout or two cannot be ruled out. Available moisture aloft will be in the high side so rain rates could be impressive reaching rates as high as 3″/hr in the strongest storms. This could lead to flash flooding. Areas of 1-to-3 inches of rain may be possible depending on how long the disturbance hangs around.
Clouds and more rain are expected Monday but will not be as strong as Sunday’s storms. Additional rain could lead to more localized flooding concerns Monday afternoon and evening on top of anticipated saturated soils. Make sure to stay up to date with the forecasts as things still may change. We got you covered!
The rest of Friday will remain fairly hot and dry, with no chances for showers or storms expected.
Breezy southwest winds will take over Saturday afternoon. High temperatures will top out in the triple digits for most, and a few upper 90s in the northern part of the viewing area. Saturday morning and afternoon will remain clear until clouds move in late afternoon from the west.
Storm chances on Saturday evening are limited but they are there. Isolated storm activity may begin as early as late afternoon, in the northwestern and western portions of the viewing area. If storms develop they will move off to the east throughout the evening and activity should end before midnight. Right now severe weather is not expected.
Storm chances continue into Sunday with The Storm Prediction Center’s outlook anticipating a marginal chance that storms will become severe overnight Sunday. If they do become severe hazards will be damaging winds and large hail, in addition to the potential for flash flooding.
Temperatures will cool Sunday night due to a cold front that is expected to bring 80s for high temperatures and widespread rainfall on Monday! tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc tyc
