Israel: Israeli police kill Palestinian in Kafr Yasif, Galilee
Palestine, (imemc): On Sunday dawn, Israeli police officers killed a Palestinian citizen of Israel in Kafr Yasif, in the Galilee in the northern part of the country.
Media sources said an off-duty police officer fired several rounds at a car carrying several passengers, seriously wounding Omar Ghaleb Sawa’ed, 22, who succumbed to his wounds.
Eyewitnesses said the officer aimed high at the car in a manner that seemed to be intended to inflict upper-body wounds.
A video shows the car speeding to reach a hospital, and in the process, the seriously wounded young man falling out of the car before the passengers ran toward him. At that moment, an ambulance arrived and took him to a hospital.
The Israeli police only commented on the shooting by claiming it is investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
Meanwhile, on Sunday dawn, Israeli settlers infiltrated Sinjil town, north of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, Palestine, and burnt a home as the family slept before the father rushed his four children and his wife out to safety.
Media sources said the home is on the outskirts of Huwwara, an issue that made it easily accessible to the colonizers who firebombed the home as the family slept.
Ahmad Maher Awashra said he woke up to crackling in the kitchen, immediately took his children out of their beds, and rushed out of the property with his wife before the fire spread.
While the family was not physically hurt, the children suffered severe anxiety attacks after seeing the fire and being rushed out of their home.
He added that several young men heard and saw the settlers running away after setting the house ablaze.
Meanwhile, Israeli settlers pelted stones Saturday at Palestinian vehicles near the village of Deir Sharaf, to the west of Nablus, and blocked a junction in the northern Jordan Valley, according to local sources.
In Nablus province, north of the West Bank, Israeli settlers hurled stones at Palestinians’ vehicles passing through Deir Sharaf junction, to the west of the city, causing damage to some of them but no injuries, said Ghassan Daghlas, a local Palestinian official.
In the northern Jordan Valley region, northeast of the West Bank, Israeli settlers shut down the Al-Maleh junction, blocking the movement of Palestinian vehicles in the area. The settlers also pelted stones at vehicles, said Mutaz Besharat, a Palestinian official in charge of the settlement file in the area.
Israeli settler violence against Palestinians and their property is commonplace in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
There are over 650,000 Israeli settlers illegally occupying portions of the West Bank in violation of international law and established norms prohibiting the relocation of the occupying power’s civil population to the land of the occupied.
According to Palestinian figures, the death toll of Palestinians since the beginning of 2023 has risen to over 90 killed by Israeli forces and paramilitary Israeli settlers, including 15 children, a woman, and a prisoner in the occupation prisons. Fourteen Israelis were also killed in separate attacks during the same period.
