Gaza: 104 Palestinians killed, 162 injured by Israeli bombings last 24 hours

Gaza City, (OCHA, Al Jazeera, Wafa): 104 Palestinians were killed and 162 others injured by indiscriminate bombings by Israeli Defence Forces in Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours according to the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Gaza Strip. The death toll of Palestinians from Israeli deadly attacks since 7 October 2023 has gone up to 31,923, including 13,000 children, and 74,096 Palestinians injured in Gaza Strip according to MoH in Gaza. 8.500 Palestinians are missing.

More than 100 aid workers have been killed and dozens wounded over the past week in eight attacks carried out by Israeli forces, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza.

The media office said in a statement the targeting of aid workers was part of Israel’s strategy to “perpetuate the policy of starvation and deepen famine on a broader scale”.

Twelve civilians, including at least two children, were killed today in Israeli airstrikes that targeted residential homes in different areas in the northern and southern regions of the Gaza Strip, reported Wafa news agency.

According to sources, Israeli warplanes bombed the Issa family home east of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip, killing six civilians and causing injuries to several others.

An Israeli strike also targeted a house belonging to the Haboush family west of Gaza City, resulting in the killing of a mother and her son.

Israeli military drones also carried out strikes targeting a group of civilians near the Hamouda intersection east of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip which resulted in the killing of three civilians and the wounding of 10 others.

The Israeli occupation forces also bombarded residential homes located between the towns of Al-Qarara and Al-Zanna, east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Artillery shelling also targeted civilian homes located behind the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.

WAFA correspondent said that dozens of people were killed, and others were injured with various injuries, after Israeli warplanes bombed two houses in the vicinity of the Shifa Medical Complex, owned by Aisha family, noting that a large number of them are still under the rubble.

He added that the Israeli warplanes bombed a house over the heads of its residents in the vicinity of the complex, owned by Hamouda family and housing displaced persons, killing dozens and injuring others, while a large number of people are still missing under the rubble of the bombed house.

A number of people were also killed when the Israeli warplanes bombed a number of homes on the outskirts of Al-Shati camp from the southern side, while others were left with injuries described as serious.

The warplanes also launched a series of raids in Al-Kanz Mosque square in Gaza City, targeting dozens of homes, killing at least 10 citizens from Al-Badda family, and wounding others.

The Israeli army bombed several areas in Gaza City, specifically Al-Rimal neighborhood and the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital, west of the city.

WAFA correspondent said that 20 people were killed as a result of an Israeli missile bombardment that targeted a residential building west of Gaza City, adding that a number of people were killed, and others wounded, in a bombing by Israeli warplanes on Sidra area in the Daraj neighborhood east of the city.

The Israeli army’s artillery also bombed residential apartments in Mushtaha building opposite Shawa Hosari Tower in Gaza City.

WAFA correspondents pointed out that a large number of families are besieged in Al-Rimal neighborhood, west of Gaza City, amid tragic circumstances due to the ongoing occupation bombing of the neighborhood.

According to sources, the Israeli occupation army threw the patients outside the Shifa Medical Complex, and people transferred them to the Baptist Hospital in difficult health conditions.

The death toll from the Israeli warplanes’ bombing of a residential house owned by Al-Habbash family in Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip rose to 27, most of whom were displaced.

In Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, 6 people were killed following an Israeli airstrikes that targeted a house.

The areas east of Deir al-Balah in the middle of the Gaza Strip saw heavy gunfire by Israeli occupation army vehicles, killing a number of civilians and injuring others.

More than half the population of Gaza is on the brink of famine, including children and the elderly, the World Bank Group said on Tuesday

The international organization called for urgent action to save lives.

“We join the international community in calling for immediate, free, and unimpeded access of medical supplies, food and life-essential services through all available means at speed and scale to the people of Gaza,” it said in a statement.

The World Bank Group’s board of directors in December approved the commitment of $35 million in funds to development partners which are active in Gaza, including the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Program (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

This funds include a $10 million package to the WFP to purchase food parcels and vouchers to reach an estimated 377,000 people.

Meanwhile, in West Bank, three Palestinians were killed and one was moderately injured this evening in Israeli drone bombings that targeted a Palestinian vehicle on the outskirts of Jenin, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

PRCS said that its staff transported the bodies of three Palestinians who were killed in the drone attack to Jenin Governmental Hospital. One resident was also moderately injured in the attack.

According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
