Afghanistan: 8 people killed, 20 injured in Kabul mosque explosion
(The Muslim News): Eight people were killed and 20 injured in a bomb explosion outside a mosque in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Sunday, according to local media reports.
People had gathered at Eidgah Great Mosque on Sunday afternoon for a memorial service was being held for Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid’s deceased mother.
Mujahid is also Deputy Minister of Information and Culture in the Taliban caretaker government.
Saeed Khosti, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry in the interim Taliban government, said three people have been arrested in connection with the attack.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid earlier said on Twitter that “a “number of civilians” had died in the blast “near the entrance of the Eidgah Mosque in Kabul.”
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
