Gaza: 29 killed, several injured by Israeli attacks last 24 hours

London, (The Muslim News): At least 29 Palestinians were killed and several injured by indiscriminate bombings by Israeli Defence Forces, in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, increasing number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces to 40,878 and injuring over 94,454 others since October 7, according to Health Ministry.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

18 Palestinians, including four children, were killed in airstrikes by Israeli warplanes targeting the central Gaza Strip with one of the strikes hitting tents set up for displaced persons in what the Israeli military claims is a “humanitarian safe zone” thursday.

Medical sources at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital told Anadolu Agency that six bodies were brought to the hospital after an Israeli airstrike hit a house in the Zeitoun neighborhood.

Palestinian medics also reported the death of a woman and her daughter in an Israeli strike that targeted a house in the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood, west of Gaza City.

They added that several people were still under the rubble of the targeted home.

At least six Palestinians were killed and several others injured early this morning following an Israeli airstrike on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Local reports confirmed that six bodies were recovered from Rafah after the missile strike, with the victims being transported to Nasser Hospital in the neighboring city of Khan Younis.

Additionally, emergency responders from the Palestinian Red Crescent reported injuries resulting from another Israeli attack on Shabeer Street in central Khan Younis.

Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp issued a brief statement confirming the deaths of two women and as many children in the airstrike on tents west of the camp. Several others were reported injured.The bodies of the slain civilians, namely two young women and two child sisters, were taken to the al-Awda Hospital in the camp, and the casualties, namely three female children and a youth, to Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

The targeted area is among those designated by the Israeli army as a “humanitarian safe zone,” according to local Palestinian sources.

Israeli bombardment today killed at least 13 Palestinians and injured others across the war-torn Gaza Strip, according to WAFA correspondent.

The occupation forces also targeted a house belonging to the Yassin family in the Zaytoun neighbourhood, east of Gaza City, killing four civilians, including two children and a woman, and injuring others.

Meanwhile, Israeli fighter jets pounded a house near Nassar Circle in the Ash-Sheikh area in the northern Strip, resulting in a number of fatalities and casualties.

Israeli bombing also targeted a house belonging to the Qandil family in the downtown part of the city of Khan Younes, killing five civilians and injuring others.

In the Zeitoun and Al-Sabra neighborhoods of Gaza City, Israeli artillery shelled homes and civilian property, while helicopters fired rounds, according to witnesses.

In the Central Governorate, Israeli artillery intensified its shelling east of the Al-Bureij and Al-Maghazi refugee camps, as well as north of Nuseirat, according to witnesses.

The Israeli army also demolished homes near the Nitsarim Axis south of Gaza City, with explosions heard throughout Gaza and the Central Governorate, witnesses said.

Witnesses added that the army also destroyed residential buildings south of the University College in southwest Gaza City.

In the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, the Israeli military demolished entire residential blocks in the northwest part of the city, according to witnesses.

Meanwhile, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said more than one million people in central and southern Gaza did not receive any food rations in August, adding the “humanitarian situation in Gaza remains beyond catastrophic”.

In the occupied West Bank, a 13-year-old girl succumbed to her wounds after being shot by Israeli forces in Qaryout, a village south of Nablus, in the occupied West Bank.

The village was attacked by illegal Jewish settlers, backed by Israeli forces, when Bana Amjad Bakr, 13, was shot in the chest by an Israeli soldiers, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its teams dealt with the “serious” injury after confrontations broke out in the village. Bakr was then moved to a nearby hospital where she later died.

According to her father, Bakr was shot while she was in her bedroom inside her house.

Jewish settler attacks are common in the West Bank, and have increased in scale and intensity since October 7. The Israeli army and settlers have displaced more than 1,200 Palestinians and destroyed hundreds of structures, according to UN figures.

A group of Israeli settlers has stormed the Palestinian village of Qaryut near Nablus and attacked local residents, the Wafa news agency reports.

The settlers threw stones at residents’ homes and beat at least one person, according to relief workers quoted by the agency.

The attack followed the killing by Israeli forces of a Turkish-American activist in the nearby village of Beita.

Earlier, Israeli army shot a young man, 34, with live gunfire, injuring him in the hand, at a time when they brutally beat up another, 30, leaving him in bruises.

Local sources reported that Israeli forces stormed the village and attacked the villagers’ houses in the southern part, pelting them with stones and setting tracts of farmland on fire.

Over 700,000 Israeli settlers are living in colonies across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.

Bakr’s death brings the total number of Palestinians killed in the occupied West Bank since October 7 to 692.
