Meanwhile, Minister of Women’s Affairs, Mona Al-Khalili, said that the Israeli occupation forces deliberately target women and children in Gaza and the West Bank.
Al-Khalili said in a press statement on Sunday that Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip are suffering from the most dangerous and harsh conditions in decades, as a result of deteriorating health and living conditions, displacement, and lack of shelter, in addition to the lack of food and water.
She pointed out that 9,560 female Palestinians were killed since 7 October 2023 by Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, out of a total number of fatalities of 33,175, according to statistics issued by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Al-Khalil indicated that there are approximately 15,000 pregnant women currently in the Gaza Strip, 95% of whom do not eat sufficient amounts of food, which increases health risks to the mother and fetus.
She added that there are about a million forcibly displaced women who face exacerbated protection risks in shelter centers that lack basic necessities and privacy, amid separation from family support networks, adding that there are approximately 37 mothers killed every day, leaving behind devastated families and displaced children.
The statement pointed out that 8,100 women will give birth next month in the Gaza Strip, noting that restrictions on movement are still in place and the dismemberment of cities continues, hindering access to vital health and social services, ambulance movement, and the provision of humanitarian services.
In the West Bank, Al-Khalili said that the Israeli forces displaced 1,620 Palestinian families, including 710 children, in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, due to the Israeli policy of demolishing homes.
