Gaza: 113 Palestinians killed eve & on Christmas day by Israeli attacks in Maghazi & Khan Younis
Agencies: At least 95 Palestinians have been killed and dozens injured in Israeli air attack on the Maghazi refugee camp, which a Palestinian Health Ministry spokesperson describes as a “massacre”. Israeli airstrike in Khan Younis in southern Gaza killed eighteen Palestinians. Both attacks took place on eve of and on Christmas.
Large number of Palestinians are buried under the rubble in Maghazi. As the Palestinians do not have any equipment, they use their hands to dig the rubbles.
The increase in indiscriminate bombings are taking place after the UNSC aid resolution was passed without US veto and after UK’s new Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron’s recommendation to Israel to pursue Hamas in a “much more surgical, clinical, and targeted approach”.
Pastor Munther Isaac, the head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem and Beit Sahour, said Sunday that “If Jesus Christ were born today, he would be born under the rubble,” referring to the destructive Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
Earlier he said: “What happened in Gaza is a genocide, and Palestinians will stand, as usual, and recover, but they will not accept apologies from those who participated in this genocide.”
“This year, Christmas comes while death and destruction spread, and rubble covers our land.”
“In Gaza today, Jesus is under the rubble and in the operating room,” he added.
“Celebrating this year is difficult for us, our families, and our loved ones. Our people in Gaza are facing ethnic cleansing,” he said noting that ”what is happening in Gaza is a genocide against the Palestinian people.”
Palestinian Christians have decided to limit their Christmas celebrations to religious rituals due to the ongoing conflict.
Israeli army admits it is fighting a “complex and complicated war” with many soldiers killed. It says at least five dead captives’ bodies retrieved from a tunnel in northern Gaza.
20,424 Palestinians have been killed, including 8,663 children, 6,327 women and 54,036 injured in Israeli indiscriminate attacks since October 7 reports Ministry of Health.
The revised death toll from Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7 stands at 1,139. 128 Israeli still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
