‘The Greatest Hits’: Bad Boys 4 Writer Teases Fan-Favorite Cameos in Ride or Die

In an interview with Screen Rant, Bremner explained why they opted to bring back former Bad Boys cast members instead of creating new characters for Ride or Die. “We always liked doing cameos. When the idea came out that it was an old case and Captain Howard was putting it together, it was suddenly like, ‘Well, of course, you’re going to go back to all these people, because why not?’ Why invent new characters? It’s too many people for audiences to care about. Let’s go back to the greatest hits. There were a couple we couldn’t get or didn’t get, which I wish we could have had. But it was amazing to get John Salley—it was amazing to get some of these old greats.”
Bad Boys: Ride or Die continues a franchise tradition as the action comedy film confirms its official rating ahead of its Jun. 7 premiere.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die finds Miami’s finest on the run. After their late Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano) is posthumously accused of being involved with the Romanian Mafia, Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) begin investigating corruption within the Miami PD. However, after a setup turns them into fugitives, the duo is forced to work outside the law to solve the case.
Who Else Is Back for Bad Boys: Ride or Die?
Bad Boys: Ride or Die also features the return of Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, DJ Khaled, and Jacob Scipio, who reprise their respective roles from 2020’s Bad Boys for Life as Kelly, Dorn, Lieutenant Rita Secada, Manny the Butcher, and Armando Aretas. Dennis Greene is also back as Staff Sergeant Reggie Norman, who appeared in the previous two films, while Tasha Smith replaces Theresa Randle in the role of Marcus Burnett’s wife, Theresa.
New additions to the franchise include Eric Dane as the villain, Banker; Ioan Gruffudd as Lockwood; Melanie Liburd as Mike’s new love interest, Christine; and Better Call Saul actor Rhea Seehorn as Captain Howard’s daughter, US Marshall Agent Judy Howard, who is hunting down Mike and Marcus. Tiffany Haddish, Joyner Lucas, Quinn Hemphill, and Lionel Messi round out the ensemble cast.

Ride or Die May Be Followed by Bad Boys 5
Although unconfirmed, Smith and Lawrence have expressed interest in making a fifth Bad Boys movie. “We might have one more in us before we hand it off but we’ve got a lot of young seeds in there,” Smith said. Lawrence added, “The back ain’t went out quite yet, so before we do that — we ain’t going to pass it off just yet.” Ride or Die co-director Adil El Arbi has also revealed that he’d be down to come back for another movie, especially if it took the titular bad boys outside of Miami, Florida, where all four movies are primarily set.
