Syria: Alleged Israeli bombing of residential area in Damascus kills 5, injures 15
Damascus, (Agencies): Five people were killed and 15 others were wounded in alleged Israeli air attacks with waves of missiles, targeting areas in Damascus and its vicinity, including densely populated residential neighborhoods Sunday, reports Syrian news agency SANA. The Israeli attacks are taking place at a time when the Syria is struggling to deal with the earthquake which has killed five thousand people and thousands of buildings destroyed.
“At 00:22 a.m. Sunday at dawn, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with waves of missiles from the direction of occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points in Damascus city and its surroundings, including residential neighborhoods, our air defenses intercepted the missiles and downed most of them”, a military source told SANA.
The attack in Kafr Sousa killed one soldier and injured 15 civilians, some in a critical condition.
The news agency reports the missile attacks also destroyed a number of civilian houses and caused material damage to several neighborhoods in Damascus and its vicinity.
The attack comes after an Israeli missile attack on Damascus International Airport, killing four people on January 2.
