JERUSALEM (AA): A Palestinian and Israeli were killed in a shooting attack on Sunday in occupied East Jerusalem near the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex, according to Israeli police.

A police statement said four Israelis, including two officers, were injured when an armed Palestinian opened fire near the Bab al-Silsila (Chain Gate), one of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s main gates, in Jerusalem’s Old City.

The Palestinian gunman was shot dead by Israeli soldiers, the statement said.

According to Israeli KAN channel, an injured Israeli died later of his wounds.

Israel named the soldier who was killed as Eliyahu David Kay, 26.

Israeli police said it was hunting another Palestinian for allegedly helping the gunman.

Palestinian local media identified the dead Palestinian as Fadi Abu Shkeidem, 42, from Shuafat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem.

Dozens of soldiers invaded the home of Fadi Abu Shkheidim, and ransacked it, causing excessive property damage, in addition to interrogating the family.

According to imemc.org, during the raid, the soldiers forced the family into one room of their home in Shu’fat refugee camp in Jerusalem, before summoning for interrogation Omar’s child Abdullah, only 8 years of age, along with his mother, sister and two brothers.
