Palestine: Israeli settlers burn Palestinian vehicles in West Bank attacks

By Awad Rajoub

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA): Israeli settlers reportedly attacked Palestinian properties and burned vehicles in the occupied West Bank early Monday, according to a local official.

Ghassan Douglas, an official in charge of monitoring Israeli settlement building in the northern West Bank, said settlers carried out attacks in the towns of Urif and Burin, south of Nablus.

“Settlers burned three vehicles in Burin and burned another vehicle and attacked a house with stones in Urif,” he told Anadolu Agency.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, illegal Israeli/Jewish settlers, accompanied by dozens of soldiers and police officers, occupied five Dunams of Palestinian lands in the Al-Hamra area in Silwan town, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the occupied capital, Jerusalem, in the West Bank. Israeli police also abducted three young men.

Media sources said the five Dunams are owned by the local Palestinian Somrain family, whose members have been planting and tending to it for over seventy years.

The confiscated five Dunams of Palestinian lands are in the Al-Hamra area in the Al-Ein neighborhood in Wadi Hilweh in Silwan town.

Dozens of Palestinians tried to stop the colonizers before the police and the soldiers attacked them and abducted three young men.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Israeli settlers carried out 755 attacks in the West Bank this year.

There are more than 250 illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which Israel occupied in 1967.

Under international law, all Jewish settlements in the occupied territories are considered illegal.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces rounded up 13 Palestinians in overnight raids across the West Bank, according to state news agency Wafa.

The arrests took place in the cities of Hebron, Jerusalem, Ramallah, Nablus, Tulkarem, and Jenin.
