RAMALLAH (AA): The Israeli army killed two Palestinians during raids in the occupied West Bank officials said Thursday.

The official Palestinian television channel said Israeli forces on Thursday shot dead a Palestinian during a raid on the Dheisheh refugee camp in the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem.

The soldiers fired a barrage of live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs at the protesters and surrounding homes.

Medical sources confirmed that an Israeli army sharpshooter occupying a rooftop of a Palestinian home killed a young man after shooting him with a live round in the heart, reported Imemc.org.

The Palestinian Health Ministry officially identified the slain young man as former political prisoner Ayman Mahmoud Mheisin, 29.

The Palestinian was not participating in the protests and his killed while walking near his home when the soldiers shot him.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said another Palestinian was killed and three others were injured during an Israeli army operation on Wednesday night in the village of Yabad, near the city of Jenin.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said the soldiers shot Bilal Awad Kabaha, 24, with live rounds in the chest and thigh.

It added that the young man was rushed to Jenin governmental hospital in critical condition but died from his wounds.

The Health Ministry stated that the army shot six Palestinians with live rounds, including three who suffered life-threatening wounds after being shot in the neck, face, and abdomen.

Earlier Wednesday, the army killed a Palestinian journalist, Ghofran Haroun Warasna, 31, after shooting her at the entrance of the al-‘Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

Palestinians living in the Israeli-occupied West Bank complain of frequent attacks by Jewish settlers, often including acts of physical violence, vandalism, and the destruction of Palestinian farmland.

Tension has been running high across the Palestinian territories in the wake of a controversial march by Israeli settlers through East Jerusalem and daily settler incursions into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. It annexed the entire city in 1980, in a move never recognized by the international community.
