Palestine: 93 of Palestinians injured by Israeli forces in West Bank
By Mustafa Deveci
RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) : The number of Palestinians injured Friday climbed to 93 as Israeli forces used live and rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas to disperse demonstrators against illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. A mosque near Jenin was attacked by Israeli soliders.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said 23 people sustained live bullet injuries, while 70 others, including a paramedic in Beita, were injured with rubber-coated metal bullets.
Palestinians were protesting illegal Jewish settlements in towns across the West Bank, including Beita, Kafr Qaddum and Beit Dajan and Masafer Yatta in Hebron.
As Palestinian residents of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron in the southern West Bank, gathered Friday afternoon for a non-violent demonstration against the Israeli theft of their lands, Israeli forces violently assaulted them with rubber-coated steel bullets, tear gas and batons injuring many.
Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers invaded, Friday, a mosque near Jaba’ town, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, before preventing the Palestinians from praying in it, and stopped rehabilitation work that is ongoing in the holy site.
The soldiers also fired many rubber-coated steel bullets and concussion grenades around the mosque, and near Jenin-Nablus Road, to force the Palestinians away.
Israeli and Palestinian estimates indicate there are about 650,000 settlers in the West Bank living in 164 settlements and 116 outposts, including occupied Jerusalem.
Under international law, all Israeli settlements in occupied territories are considered illegal.
