RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA): A Palestinian youth was killed by Israeli army fire during a raid in the occupied West Bank early Wednesday, according to the state news agency Wafa. Earlier on Tuesday Israeli forces killed a Palestinian in Aqabat Jabr refugee camp.

Ahmed Mohamed Masad, 21, was shot in the head and died of his wounds in the town of Burqin, northwest of Jenin, Jani Abu Jokha, the director of Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin, told Wafa.

He said three other Palestinians were injured by Israeli army fire.

Israeli forces raided a number of houses in the Jenin refugee camp, triggering clashes with angry Palestinian residents, Wafa said.

According to the news agency, six Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces during the raid.

Islamic Jihad group, for its part, confirmed that Masad was a group member.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli forces attacked Aqabat Jabr refugee camp, southern Jericho,West Bank. Four Palestinians were wounded, including one child.

One of the wounded civilians, Ahmed I. Owaidat (20), was in critical condition with a live-bullet injury in the head. He was taken to the emergency room at Jericho governmental hospital, and then transferred to Istishari Arab Hospital in Ramallah. He underwent a 4-hour head surgery. At approximately 09:00, he was pronounced dead due to severe injury to the head with a live bullet that penetrated the brain.

So far this year, the Israeli occupation forces have killed 41 Palestinian, including 32 civilians including 8 children and 3 women. The others were active members of armed groups, 3 of them were extrajudicially executed. Hundreds of others sustained wounds in Israeli attacks, including women and children, across the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem.

Tensions have been running high across the Palestinian territories since the beginning of April amid repeated Israeli arrest campaigns in the occupied West Bank and daily settler incursions into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in East Jerusalem.
