Iraq: Terrorist attack in Salahuddin leaves 3 dead, 4 wounded
By Ali Makram Ghareeb
KIRKUK, Iraq (AA): Members of the Daesh/ISIS terrorist group attacked a police checkpoint Tuesday in Iraq’s Salahuddin province, killing three people and wounding four others.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Defense Security Media Network, terrorists using automatic rifles sprayed the checkpoint with bullets and fled the scene.
The terrorist group gained control in Mosul, Salahuddin and Anbar provinces in June 2014 and partly captured Diyala and Kirkuk provinces, but Iraqi authorities regained control afterwards.
Former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared victory over Daesh on Dec. 9, 2017.
Although four years have passed, the terrorist group still targets rural areas of the provinces.
