Protests against the government and in support of hostage release will take place on Saturday night in Tel Aviv and in several locations across the country, including Jerusalem, Haifa, Caesarea, and Be’er Sheva.

The central demonstration calling for advancing elections will be held at the Kaplan Junction near Israel’s defense complex, while simultaneously, a gathering of the hostages’ families will occur at the Hostage Square outside the Tel Aviv Museum.

Prior to the protests, several family members of hostages addressed the media, urging the government to accept a hostage deal proposal set out by U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday night.

After the protest at Kaplan Junction concludes, a demonstration outside the defense ministry is set to take place. In recent weeks, the Tel Aviv police have used barriers, riot dispersal measures, and significant force to clear Kaplan Junction of protesters after the families’ speeches.

The Hostages and Missing Families’ forum announced that its members will reach “every member of the cabinet, government, and Knesset in the coming hours and demand the approval of the Netanyahu deal now.”

The forum announced that it launched an operation on Saturday evening to secure a majority in the government and Knesset for implementing the Netanyahu deal to release the hostages. “The forum demands the return of all the hostages, whether for rehabilitation or burial, and not to miss the opportunity that has arisen to bring them home,” the statement said.

A meeting between U.S., Egyptian and Israeli officials is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Cairo to discuss the reopening of the Gaza’s Rafah crossing, a high-level source told Egypt’s state-linked Al Qahera TV.

Egypt is insisting that Israel withdraw its forces from the crossing, Al Qahera reported. Israel seized the crossing on the Gaza side in May during its offensive in the city of Rafah along the enclave’s southern edge.

Netanyahu: Israel’s conditions for ending the war have not changed, if they are not met there will not be a permanent cease-fire
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted his response to U.S. President Joe Biden’s speech in English. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, “Israel’s conditions for ending the war have not changed: The destruction of Hamas military and governing capabilities, the freeing of all hostages and ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel. Under the proposal, Israel will continue to insist these conditions are met before a permanent ceasefire is put in place. The notion that Israel will agree to a permanent ceasefire before these conditions are fulfilled is a non-starter.”
