Gaza: 90 Palestinians killed, 164 injured by Israeli bombardments in last 24 hours

Gaza City, (OCHA, Al Jazeera, Wafa): 90 Palestinians killed and 164 injured in the past 24 hours by indiscriminate bombings by Israel in Gaza Strip. Between 7 October 2023 and 10:30 on 26 February 2024, at least 29,782 Palestinians were killed, including 12,00 children in Gaza and 70,043 Palestinians were injured, including 8,663 according to MoH in Gaza. 8,500 Palestinians are missing.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), supported by OCHA and the World Health Organization (WHO), have completed the evacuation of 72 critical cases from Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

A UN staff member and a PRCS volunteer paramedic were reported killed in Gaza, heightening existing concerns for the safety of aid workers and medical personnel.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) reports that newborns are dying in Gaza because their mothers are unable to attend prenatal or postnatal check-ups while the incessant bombings, fleeing for safety and anxiety are leading to premature births.

A new report by the World Bank highlights that economic activity in Gaza has grounded to a halt and nearly every resident will live in poverty, at least in the short term.

Intense Israeli bombardment from air, land and sea continues to be reported across much of the Gaza Strip, resulting in further civilian casualties, displacement, and destruction of civilian infrastructure. Ground operations and heavy fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups also continue to be reported, particularly in Khan Younis, Gaza city and east Deir al Balah.

Four civilians today were killed and dozens were injured by Israeli occupation live bullets and ongoing airstrikes against several areas west of the city of Gaza, according to medical and local sources.

Medical sources reported that Israeli military tanks intensively targeted scores of civilians who were waiting for aid to arrive on the Harun al-Rashid road – the coastal road in the Sheikh Ajlin area – west of Gaza City, resulting in the killing of four persons and causing others multiple injuries.

In Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, at least three persons, including a woman and a child, were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a house near the Kuwaiti Hospital in the center of the city.

Furthermore, scores of civilians were further killed and others were wounded by an Israeli drone in the middle of the new camp, west of Nuseirat.

Civil defense crews and others retrieved the bodies of five people from under the rubble of a house that was bombed in the town of Al-Qarara, in the northeast of Khan Yunis.

At least seven Palestinian civilians were killed on Monday, and dozens were injured, in an Israeli bombing in the center and south of the Gaza Strip, on the 143rd day of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Strip.

Local sources said that two people were killed in an Israeli warplane bombardment that targeted a civilian vehicle in Abu Al-Ajen area, east of Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, as the Israeli forces’ heavy artillery shelling continued.

They added that the Israeli forces targeted Al-Fokhari area east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, while the Israeli naval boats opened fire towards the coast of Khan Yunis, killing two fishermen, in conjunction with a raid east of Khan Yunis.

Three Palestinians were killed in the Israeli bombing of a house north of the city of Rafah, while a number of Palestinians were injured as a result of the Israeli bombing of an apartment in the Al-Geneina neighborhood in the east.

The Israeli naval boats also opened fire at the beach of Rafah.

Health sources in the Gaza Strip said that two people were killed and others were injured after the Israeli army targeted a house in the vicinity of the Gaza European Hospital, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army blew up homes west of the city of Khan Yunis, which saw intense clashes in the vicinity of Nasser Hospital, as the artillery shelling targeted Al-Amal neighborhood to the west.

Four Palestinians, including a woman and a child, were killed, and others were injured in an Israeli bombing that targeted a house north of Rafah.

At least 15 Palestinians were killed, and dozens were injured, including children and women, in an Israeli raid that targeted a house in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, last night.

According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
