Gaza: 89 Palestinians killed, 120 injured by Israeli bombings last 24hrs
Gaza City, (Wafa, AA): 89 Palestinians were killed and 120 others injured by indiscriminate bombing by Israeli Defence Forces in Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours according to Ministry of Health. This brings total Palestinians killed to at least 33,634, including 14,520 children and 9,560 women and 76,214 injured by Israeli bombings in Gaza Strip, according to MoH. In addition further 12,000 Palestinians are reported missing, presumed dead under the rubble.
More than 25 Palestinians were killed and dozens of others injured as Israel bombed a house in the central Gaza city on Friday, the third day of the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitr, according to official media reports.
“The (Israeli) occupation aircraft launched raids on a house belonging to the Tabatibi family, in the Sidra area, in the Daraj neighborhood in central Gaza City, killing more than 25 citizens and wounding dozens,” the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
It added that “occupation helicopters also targeted the northern areas of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.”
A number of Palestinians were injured after the Israeli army bombed “a school housing displaced people in the new camp in Nuseirat,” it said.
Medical sources said that Israeli warplanes targeted a school sheltering displaced people north of the Nuseirat camp, resulting in killing of a civilian and causing several injuries.
Furthermore, Israeli fighter jets further conducted intense artillery shelling and air raids targeting the central of the Strip.
Meanwhile, the Israeli warplanes also targeted the northern areas of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, while the Israeli army blew up a number of buildings north of the camp.
Medical sources reported a number of civilians were wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting a school housing displaced people in Nuseirat camp. They were subsequently transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
According to medical sources, about 90% of civilians have been forcibly displaced to the south away from the ongoing Israeli shelling Gaza’s media office has condemned an Israeli attack earlier on Friday on a vehicle carrying three journalists in central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp.
“We strongly condemn the ongoing targeting of journalists and media crews by Israeli occupation forces,” it said in a statement.
Israeli forces are “deliberately killing and wounding journalists in an attempt to scare, threaten, and prevent reporters from carrying out their duties, as well as to stifle the truth,” it said.
At least 140 journalists and media representatives have been killed since October 7, according to the office.
Head of the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Middle East desk, Jonathan Dagher, said reports of journalists being attacked, injured, and killed in Gaza in Israeli attacks have become “so commonplace”.
“We’ve had to report them almost daily for the past six months,” Dagher told Al Jazeera. “This is just the latest attack, it’s terrible … it’s unacceptable,” he said, referring to a strike that hit a vehicle carrying three journalists in Nuseirat refugee camp earlier today.
Dagher described the attack as “unprovoked”, and said there is enough evidence to prove that the vehicle was targeted.
More than 100 journalists have been killed by Israel in Gaza over the past six months, he said.
This “massacre has to stop”, he added, calling on the international community to “step up the pressure” on Israel.
“We are calling for an end to this impunity,” he said. “Any attack on civilians, or aid workers, or humanitarian workers, is [also] completely unacceptable.”
Israeli forces have launched several attacks on the northern part of Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, with artillery shelling and air strikes.
According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
