Gaza: 83 Palestinians were killed, 125 injured by Israeli bombings in last 24 hours

Gaza City (Wafa, Al Jazeera): Earlier today, health authorities in Gaza announced that the Israeli military had bombed in the Gaza Strip during the previous 24 hours, leading to the killing of 83 civilians and injuring 125 others. Israel’s indiscriminate bombings on Gaza have killed at least 28,858 Palestinians, including 12,000 children and wounded 68,667 since October 7. 8,500 Palestinians are missing.

At least eight Palestinian civilians, including children, were killed and dozens more injured this afternoon in a series of Israeli airstrikes which targeted residential homes in the town of Zawaida in central Gaza, according to local and medical sources.

Israeli warplanes bombed over five inhabited houses in various areas of central Gaza, particularly in the town of Zawaida, resulting in the killing of at least eight civilians and leaving scores injured, with others still trapped under the rubble, the sources said.

In Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, the Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces continue the detention of 12 of its team members, including seven individuals taken into custody from Red Crescent-affiliated Al-Amal Hospital over a week ago.

The society expressed its deep concern for the safety of its detained personnel— whose fate remains unknown, urging the international community to intervene and press the occupation authorities to immediately release its detained members and to ensure protection for its teams working in the Gaza Strip.

Medical sources further reported that several victims are still trapped under the debris and on the streets across the enclave, as Israeli occupation forces are preventing the arrival of ambulance and civil defense teams in multiple areas where ground Israeli troops are deployed.

Eight Palestinians killed in Israeli army strikes on homes in the al-Zawaida and Dier el-Balah refugee camps, with dozens more wounded.

Earlier today a group of residents was targeted in Khan Younis, Gaza’s second-largest city, killing at least four.

Citing the Gaza Government Media Office, Abu Azzoum said that about 44 Palestinians have been killed in the central Gaza Strip today, with many more trapped under rubble as civil defence crews work tirelessly to recover injured. Exclusive footage obtained by Al Jazeera shows dozens of bodies of the people killed in these attacks piling up at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah.

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor says it has documented the case of eight year old girl named Hanin Jum’aa in northern Gaza, who died from starvation.

Her father, Saleh, said Hanin, who was calcium deficient, complained she was hungry the night before she died.

In the pre-dawn hours, he said, she seemed unwell, “like she was on the verge of death”, so he used a donkey cart – no cars were available – to take her to a hospital “where the doctor told me she died of starvation and dehydration”.

Palestinian news agency Wafa reports that eight Palestinians were killed during the bombing of more than five homes by the Israeli army, and that dozens more are injured and trapped under rubble.

The strikes took place in the al-Zawaida and Deir el-Balah refugee camps, Wafa says, citing local sources.

Earlier, we reported on an intense wave of attacks on central Gaza, specifically on Deir el-Balah, and we can now report the resulting death toll.

A series of air raids have hit Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, an area where displaced Palestinians are returning to since Israel intensified attacks on the southern city of Rafah.

Raids hit the east of the city, an area that has come under heavy bombardment over the past week, as well as the south. Ambulances were rushed to the scene to take casualties to the hospital.

“That was insane,” Hany Allouh, a 39-year-old father of two young children. “The rockets flew above us and caused an enormous explosion. They exploded one after the other, causing panic among the people in the streets.”

At least 10 Palestinian civilians, including children and women, were killed tonight as a result of Israeli airstrikes targeting a residential building in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, and a farmland in the northern outskirts of Rafah, in the south of the enclave.

In central Gaza, local sources reported that Israeli warplanes bombed a residential apartment in the city of Deir al-Balah, killing three civilians.

Meantime, seven Palestinians, including three children and a woman, were killed when Israeli occupation forces targeted an agricultural land sheltering displaced individuals in Khirbet Al-Adas neighborhood, located north of Rafah in southern Gaza.

Simultaneously, Israeli artillery carried out intensive shelling on the city of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, while aerial strikes targeted the Al-Sekka Street and the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.

According to local health authorities, the latest figures bring up the number of people killed by Israeli occupation forces across the enclave since the early morning of Saturday to 66, including 11 in Khan Yunis, and approximately 44 in central Gaza.

The death toll among Palestinian civilians resulting from the indiscriminate Israeli airstrikes earlier today on central Gaza has risen to 40, with dozens more feared killed under the rubble, according to local sources.

The death toll in southern Israel from the October 7 Hamas-led attacks stands at 1,139. Israeli government says 134 Israeli and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
