Gaza: 83 Palestinians killed, 143 injured by Israeli bombardments in last 24 hours

Gaza City, (Al Jazeera, Wafa, OCHA): At least 83 Palestinians were killed and 143 others injured in Israeli indiscriminate bombings in Gaza  in the last 24 hours according to the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Gaza.

30,800 Palestinians have been killed and 72,298 others injured, by Israeli bombings in Gaza since 7 October according to MoH in Gaza. 8,500 Palestinians are missing.

Intense Israeli bombardment and ground operations as well as heavy fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups continue to be reported across much of the Gaza Strip, resulting in further civilian casualties, displacement, and destruction of houses and other civilian infrastructure.

Dozens of innocent Palestinian civilians, including children, were killed or injured this evening in a series of Israeli aerial or artillery attacks targeting various areas of the war-torn Gaza Strip, according to local and medical sources.

In the city of Deir el-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, approximately nine Palestinians were killed and several others wounded following the Israeli bombardment of homes belonging to the Khattab and Al-Attar families.

Simultaneously, at least one person was killed and dozens were injured, some critically, when Israeli occupation forces opened machine gunfire on civilians awaiting for aid trucks near the Al-Nabulsi and Al-Kuwait roundabouts in the west and south of Gaza City. The victims were subsequently transported to the Al-Shifa Medical Complex.

Meantime, at least one civilian was killed and three others injured as a result of the Israeli military’s bombardment of a home belonging to the Al-Attaout family in Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip.

In Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, an Israeli bombardment targeting a house owned by the Abu Rezq family near the European Gaza Hospital resulted in five injuries.

At least 38 civilians were killed and dozens of others were wounded in Israeli airstrikes that targeted different areas across Gaza Strip, according to medical sources.

Medical sources reported that 35 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes that targeted multiple homes in the Al-Hasayna area, west of the Nuseirat camp, and Al-Baraka in the city of Deir Al-Balah.

Israeli fighter jets struck a house in the Al-Geneina neighborhood, east of the city of Rafah in the south of Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, Israeli tanks and military vehicles fired artillery shells towards civilians in the Kuwait roundabout while they were waiting for aid trucks loaded with flour, resulting in the killing of three persons and causing 15 others to sustain injuries.

Only six of 24 planned aid missions by the United Nations and its humanitarian partners to areas north of Wadi Gaza were given access by Israeli authorities in February.

The latest report by the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says there were more coordinated humanitarian missions across Gaza last month – 111 compared to 75 in January – but an “operational pause” after the Israeli navy attacked a UN-coordinated food convoy on February 5 meant most missions in northern Gaza were blocked.

Aid workers have also been killed and injured in Israeli attacks, and Palestinian police have been targeted by the Israeli military multiple times, the report confirmed.

“The cumulative effect of these disruptions had a tangible decrease in the efficiency and predictability of aid delivery into Gaza, with no evidence to suggest an imminent improvement in the situation.”

According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
