Gaza: 82 Palestinians killed, 80 injured by Israeli bombardment last 24hrs

Gaza City, (AA, Al Jazeera, Wafa): At least 82 Palestinians have been killed and 80 others injured by Israeli Defence Forces indiscriminate bombings  in Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, the highest death toll in a single day in many weeks, during relentless Israeli air attacks.

The Palestinian killed from Israel’s ongoing offensive on the Gaza Strip since 7 October has mounted to 35,233, the Health Ministry in the battered enclave said on Wednesday. At least 79,141 other people have also been injured in the onslaught, the Health Ministry added in a statement..

More than 450,000 Palestinians have fled Rafah city with another 100,000 evacuating the north as Israel’s military launches new attacks.

Dozens of civilians were killed and injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting a group of civilians in the city of Gaza.

Israeli warplanes shelled a group of civilians who gathered in a location trying to pick up communications and internet signals at the intersection of al-Jalaa and al-Oyoun Streets in the city, resulting in the killing and injury of dozens of people, including some seriously. According to medical sources, three of the bodies arrived at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in shreds.

Three other civilians were killed and others were wounded in Israeli air raids that targeted a civilian vehicle north of the besieged Gaza Strip.

According to WAFA correspondent, Israeli drones targeted with at least one missile a vehicle in al-Faluja west of Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, which resulted in the killing of three people and the injury of others.

Israeli warplanes bombarded a residential block belonging to the al-Zain family in Beit Lahia to the north of the Strip, killing and wounding several civilians.

A civilian was also killed in Israeli airstrikes on Aed al-Bashiti Street in central Rafah city to the south.

A large number of displaced persons were also injured after being targeted by the Israeli occupation as they were leaving the UNRWA clinic in Jabalia refugee camp. The shelling also targeted a group of journalists in the camp, however, no injuries were reported.

A number of Palestinian civilians were killed and wounded at dawn and early Wednesday morning in a series of airstrikes launched by Israeli warplanes on several areas in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to an ongoing Israeli occupation aggression for the 222nd day in a row now.

Four people were killed and others were injured when an Israeli warplane bombed a house owned by Abu Al-Hasani family in the town of Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip. They were transferred to Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabalia camp.

A child was killed as a result of an Israeli missile strike that targeted a house belonging to Brash family in the vicinity of the club in the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. She was transferred to Al Awda Hospital in the neighboring Nuseirat camp.

The neighborhoods of Al-Zaytoun, Al-Sabra and Al-Rimal in Gaza City saw intense air and artillery bombardment by the Israeli occupation, which injured a number of people.

WAFA correspondent said that renewed violent artillery shelling on Al-Musalba area and the vicinity of Street 8 in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, resulted in seven injuries, according to the Baptist Hospital in the city.

Israeli warplanes also targeted violent raids on Old Gaza Street in the town of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip.

The neighborhoods of Al-Salam, Al-Jeneina, and Al-Barazil, east of the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, saw artillery shelling that caused widespread destruction to citizens’ homes and property.

Fighter jets struck a group of civilians north of Gaza City, causing several casualties, the witnesses said.

Ambulances were seen rushing to the scene of the attack to evacuate the victims.

The Health Ministry has yet to issue an exact toll from the attack.

Three bodies were recovered from under the rubble of a house struck by Israeli warplanes in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City, a medical source told Anadolu.

A mother and her son were also killed in a strike targeting their house in the Yarmouk neighborhood in Gaza City, witnesses said.

Five more people lost their lives in another Israeli attack on a house in the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, according to witnesses.

Two more people were killed and several others injured when Israeli forces shelled a group of civilians in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Early on Wednesday, the Israeli army expanded its offensive in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza. This operation, conducted under heavy fire from warplanes and artillery, follows the army’s withdrawal from the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City after a week-long military campaign.

The Israeli army on Wednesday expanded its incursion into the Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza Strip, under heavy Israeli bombardment and shelling.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli forces reached the al-Trans area, central the camp, amid fierce clashes with the Palestinian resistant groups.

The Israeli army destroyed several homes inside the camp, and forced hundreds to flee their areas in the camp, the eyewitnesses added.

The attack on Jabalia came as the Israeli army continues its incursion into the eastern areas of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, crowded with displaced Palestinians.

The Palestinian Civil Defense teams on Wednesday recovered 10 bodies of Palestinians killed during a week-long Israeli army’s incursion into the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in southeastern Gaza City.

Speaking to Anadolu, Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal said the rescue teams have so far recovered 10 corpses of Palestinians killed in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood and its health clinic.

“Our teams are working in the neighborhood to search for victims killed during the Israeli army’s incursion,” he said.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that the Israeli army withdrew from the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood and its surrounding areas, leaving behind widescale destruction.

According to the Israeli government, 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on October 7 in southern Israel, and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
