Gaza: 193 Palestinians killed, 920 injured by Israeli bombing last 24 hours
Gaza City, (OCHA, Al Jazeera, Wafa): Between the afternoon of 29 February and 12:30 on 1 March, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Gaza, 193 Palestinians were killed, and 920 Palestinians were injured by indiscriminate bombings by Israeli forces in Gaza. .
Between 7 October 2023 and 12:30 on 1 March 2024, at least 30,228 Palestinians were killed, including 8,860 women, 13,230 children in Gaza and 71,377, including 8.663 children Palestinians were injured, according to MoH in Gaza. Additionally, 8,500 Palestinians are missing.
On 1 March, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated: “I am appalled by the tragic human toll of the conflict in Gaza – more than 30,000 people reportedly killed and over 70,000 injured. I reiterate my call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the unconditional release of all hostages.”
The Ministry of Health in Gaza reports that the casualty toll from the incident on Rashid Street on 29 February morning has increased to 112 killed and 760 injured.
A number of countries have called for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Condemning the deaths, the UN Secretary-General stated that “the desperate civilians in Gaza need urgent help, including those in the besieged north where the United Nations has not been able to deliver aid in more than a week.”
The following are among other deadly incidents reported on 28 February:
At about 16:45, 14 Palestinians were reportedly killed, and tens of others injured, when four buildings in An Nuseirat Refugee Camp, in Deir al Balah, were struck.
At about 19:00, nine Palestinians were reportedly killed, and tens of others injured, when a house in An Nuseirat, in Deir al Balah, was struck.
By midnight 18 bodies were reportedly recovered from under the rubble in An Nuseirat, in Deir al Balah.
By midnight 14 bodies were reportedly recovered from under the rubble in Khan Younis.
At about 18:00, four Palestinians were reportedly killed, and others were injured, when a house in Al Bureij, in Deir al Balah, was struck.
WHO says Palestinians are risking their lives to find food, water and other supplies amid the unrelenting Israeli assault.
Fatalities reported in Gaza’s south after Israeli raid targets a house sheltering people who had been displaced from the north.
At least two people were killed following an Israeli air raid on a residential building in ash-Shoka, Rafah City, according to Al Jazeera correspondents.
Some victims remain under the rubble and in the streets, as the occupation forces continue to prevent the arrival of ambulance and rescue teams. Therefore, the actual figures are believed to be much higher.
Meantime, a Palestinian was killed and others injured this morning as Israeli airstrikes targeted a house belonging to the Abu Laila family in the town of Shawka, east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, without prior warning.
Simultaneously, three Palestinians, including a child, were killed and others injured in the Israeli artillery shelling of a school housing displaced people in Hamad City, located northwest of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Israeli tanks and bulldozers further broke into the town of Al-Qarara north of Khan Yunis amid intensive artillery shelling of the town.
Meantime, five Palestinians were killed and three others injured in the Israeli shelling of a group of citizens in the Al-Maslaba area east of the Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.
Concurrently, ambulance and rescue teams retrieved the bodies of dozens of martyrs from the Naeem family after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Zaytoun neighborhood southeast of Gaza City.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society stated that the Israeli occupation forces continue to target residential neighborhoods, and that its teams are trying to provide medical aid as much as possible.
It called for the establishment of field hospitals and the dispatch of international medical delegations due to the collapse of the healthcare services across the war-torn enclave.
Local sources confirmed that Israeli occupation forces targeted a populated house belonging to the Al-Qurainawi family in the camp, leading to the killing of at least four Palestinians and injuring others.
According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
Seven Israeli hostages were killed in Gaza by Israeli bombing according Qassim Brigade. It was not immediately clear when the seven died. Several captives have been killed as a result of Israeli attacks in Gaza, including three who were shot by Israeli forces.
