JERUSALEM (AA): At least five Palestinians were reportedly killed and eight others wounded amid clashes that broke out after Israeli forces made arrests in various parts of the occupied West Bank.

According to a report by the Israeli daily Haaretz, gunfire was exchanged in five different locations in the West Bank in the Burqin, Jenin, Qabatiya, Kafr Dan, and Kafr Bidu areas.

The report also noted that the Israeli forces were making preparations against for retaliatory rocket fire from Gaza in protest of the Palestinian deaths.

The deceased Palestinians were reportedly members of the Hamas resistance group, though Palestinian authorities are yet to release a statement on the matter.

According to Palestinian website, imemc.org, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that the soldiers shot Osama Sobeh, 22, with live fire causing serious injuries before he was rushed to Ibn Sina hospital in Burqin town, west of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, where he succumbed to his wounds. Local sources said the army used at least ten drones during its invasions into villages, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, especially in the Ein Ajeeb area.

Local sources said Sobeh was killed when the soldiers invaded the home of a former political prisoner, identified as Mohammad Zar’ini, near the al-Yamoun town.
