Gaza: 113 Palestinians killed, 637 injured by Israeli indiscriminate bombings 29-31 May

(The Muslim News): Between the afternoons of 29 and 31 May, according to Ministry of Health in Gaza Strip, 113 Palestinians were killed and 637 were injured, by Israeli Defence Forces indiscriminate bombings in the Gaza Strip. This has increased the number of Palestinians killed since 7 October 2023 to at least 36,284 and 82,057 others wounded by Israelis attacks in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Civil Defense on Friday said its teams recovered bodies of more than 70 people killed in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip during the Israeli army’s 20-day assault on the refugee camp.
The Israeli army had earlier completely withdrawn from the camp area and its surroundings after the offensive, according to an Anadolu Agency correspondent.
In a statement, Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal told Anadolu that most of the corpses found belong to women and children.
He added that 30 of them belonged to the Asaliyya family, including 22 women and children.
“Our teams have not yet finished their work in Jabalia, and continue to look for more martyrs under the rubble of destroyed homes,” the spokesman added.
He described Jabalia as a “disaster area” due to the Israeli military operation, which he said destroyed the camp’s infrastructure, including water and electricity networks and health facilities.
Local authorities in Gaza said earlier that the Israeli army “implemented a scorched-earth policy” during its incursion into the Jabalia refugee camp as it left immense destruction in the camp’s homes and infrastructure.
In the Central Governorate, Israeli vehicles launched a series of artillery raids and heavy gunfire targeted at eastern regions, while clashes were reported in the northern areas near the Nuseirat camp.
In Gaza City, several Palestinians were killed and injured due to airstrikes by Israeli warplanes on a residential building in the Al-Daraj neighborhood in the city center.
Others were wounded in an Israeli drone attack on a residential apartment belonging to the Minya family in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City, according to eyewitnesses.
Witnesses further reported that the warplanes resumed their intense airstrikes on the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.
In Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli army vehicles unleashed a barrage of smoke bombs, artillery shells, and machine gun fire east of the new town of Abasan. No casualties were reported, according to eyewitnesses.
According to local sources, Israeli artillery and ground vehicles conducted intensive bombardments on the Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, located west of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
This resulted in numerous civilian injuries and prompted further displacement from the western regions, particularly after the army repeatedly targeted the tents of displaced Palestinians, they added.
The amount of humanitarian relief getting into Gaza has plummeted nearly 70 percent since Israeli launched its Rafah operation, the United Nations says.
“The flow of humanitarian aid supplies into Gaza – already insufficient to meet the soaring needs – has dropped by 67 percent since 7 May,” the UN aid coordination office OCHA said, noting food distribution centres, health clinics, and hospitals are shutting down.
According to World Food Programme, access to land crossings is so “constrained” to southern parts of Gaza it “risks causing the same catastrophic levels of hunger witnessed in the north”.
Israel, as the occupying power under international law, bears the responsibility of ensuring sufficient aid reaches the desperate people of Gaza.
A paramedic with the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) described how the Israeli military targeted and killed two colleagues in Rafah.
He said emergency responders found one of their ambulances on fire when they arrived at the scene to help PRCS members Haitham Tubasi and Suhail Hassouna, who were killed.
“My colleague and I attempted to extinguish the fire, but we were heavily targeted by the shooting of the occupation. Given the gravity of the situation, we were forced to withdraw from the area.”
Paramedics eventually managed to recover the charred bodies of their colleagues after several hours.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) says that it has been “forced” to close another primary care facility in Gaza, this one in the al-Mawasi area, blaming Israel’s offensive on the southern city of Rafah.
“This is the second health facility we have been forced to close this week and another step in Israel’s systematic dismantling of Gaza’s health system. Since February, we have treated over 33,000 patients at the health centre,” MSF announced in a post on X.
Earlier this week, after Israeli attacks on Tal as-Sultan, near Rafah, killed many Palestinians, MSF also closed its care facility there, citing “extreme violence”.
“MSF has been forced to leave 14 medical facilities in Gaza since October,” it said.
The UN agency on its X account said that more than 170 UNRWA premises have been damaged or destroyed across the Gaza Strip. “Our facilities are Not a Target.”
“These attacks must stop and the world must act to hold perpetrators accountable.”
UNRWA reported that the tents of people sheltering at their school were reportedly set on fire by the Israeli occupation forces, leaving displaced people, including children, killed and injured.
Israeli artillery Friday afternoon shelled the Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of the city of Gaza, killing three Palestinians, according to WAFA News Agency correspondent.
He said that the Israeli artillery pounded the vicinity of the Salah ad-Din Mosque in the neighborhood, killing at least three Palestinians and wounding others.
The fatalities and casualties were rushed to Al-Ahli Hospital, also known as Al-Mamadani.
Early Friday morning, several Palestinian civilians were killed and others injured in a series of airstrikes carried out by Israeli occupation forces in the central Gaza Strip.
Local sources reported that multiple casualties were reported after Israeli airstrikes targeted the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, where a residential home was hit. The bodies of those killed arrived in pieces at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in neighboring Deir al-Balah, reports Wafa.
Meantime, at least eight civilians were confirmed killed, including two children and three women, in an Israeli airstrike targeting a house belonging to Al-Sous family in Al-Bureij.
Additionally, at least four more casualties were reported when Israeli fighter jets bombed another house belonging to the Al-Hour family in the same camp.
The airstrikes also targeted a residence in Block 9 of the Al-Bureij camp, resulting in multiple injuries and fires that engulfed the house and nearby areas.
Casualties were further reported after Israeli warplanes targeted a house in nearby Nusseirat refugee camp.
At least 12 civilians at dawn were killed as a result of the ongoing Israeli onslaught against the city of Rafah, on Thursday.
Medical sources said that the Israeli forces bombed a group of Palestinians who tried to recover the body of a civilian in the center of Rafah city, which resulted in the killing of them and the wounding of others.
Moving to Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, a civilian was killed and six others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house.
Meanwhile, several of civilians were injured as a result of the occupation forces targeting a residential apartment belonging to the Zomlot family In the Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli artillery also targeted the UNRWA clinic in Al-Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip.
At least seven civilians were killed and others were injured Thursday as the Israeli forces bombed several areas in the Gaza Strip.
WAFA correspondent reported that four civilians were killed and 15 others were injured as a result of the Israeli warplanes bombing a house belonging to the Zaqout family in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
In the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood, west of Gaza City, three civilians were killed by Israeli army snipers on Street 8 and the vicinity of the University College.
As for the city of Rafah, the Israeli forces blew up a number of buildings and also targeted the Tal Zorob area, west of the city, with artillery shelling and shooting.
An Israeli airstrike Wednesday targeting a house in eastern Gaza City left several Palestinians killed and injured.
“Our teams retrieved a number of martyrs and wounded after an Israeli occupation aircraft targeted the house of the Al-Hattou family near Al-Zahraa School in eastern Gaza City,” the Civil Defense in Gaza said in a press release.
They did not mention the number of casualties resulting from the attack.
The death toll in Israel from Hamas’s attacks on 7 October is at least 1,139 with dozens of people still held captive in Gaza.
