Gaza: 32 Palestinians were killed and 41 injured by Israeli bombardments

Gaza City, (Al Jazeera, Wafa): At least 32 more Palestinians were killed and 41 others injured by Israeli indiscriminate bombings over the last 24 hours on the besieged Gaza Strip, the territory’s Health Ministry said on Saturday. This brings total number of Palestinians killed since 7 October 2023 by Israeli bombings to at least 34,654, including 14,944 children and 9,849 women and 77,908 injured since Oct. 7, according to Palestinian health authorities.

“Many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

Dozens of Palestinian citizens were killed and injured in the ongoing occupation bombing on various parts of the Gaza Strip.

The bodies of three people and wounded were recovered from under the rubble of a house targeted by the occupation warplanes in the Al-Saftawi area, north of Gaza City, belonging to the Al-Hourani family.

In the meantime, intense explosions and heavy gunfire were heard in the Shuhada Junction area, south of Gaza City.

The Israeli forces also fired dozens of shells at the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, causing casualties among Palestinians.

Simultaneously, Israeli occupation warplanes bombed at least two houses in the Sheikh Ajlin and Tal Al-Hawa neighborhoods, southwest of Gaza City. It also targeted a house in the Ard Al-Shanti area in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City.

In central Gaza, the Israeli aircraft launched a raid on the northwestern area of the Nuseirat camp, coinciding with renewed artillery shelling in the vicinity of the place.

In the city of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, two Palestinians were killed and five injured as a result of the Israeli air force targeting a house of the Al-Bilbisi family on Salah al-Din Road.

In the meantime, rescue and civil defense crews recovered seven decomposed bodies from various areas in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

In the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, two people were killed, one of them a child, and others were injured as a result of the occupation warplanes targeting a house for the Abu Al-Enein family in the Al-Geneina neighborhood.

Several civilians were killed and many others injured this evening in Israeli shelling on the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood east of Gaza City and the Nusseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Local sources reported that a mother and her two children were killed, while the children’s father sustained injuries, in an Israeli artillery shelling targeting the Wadi Al-Arays quarter east of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.

In the meantime, Israeli warplanes bombed a residential building in the Al-Mufti area north of the Nusseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli warplanes targeted the building with missiles, resulting in injuries to several civilians.

In the south of the enclave, Israeli occupation forces shelled a mosque in the Al-Fakhari town east of the city of Khan Yunis, causing injuries to several civilians.

Three Palestinians, including two children, were killed today as Israeli warplanes bombed a residential area southeast of the city of Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip.

Local sources said the Israeli military carried out an airstrike targeting at least one house in the village of Shoka, located southeast of Rafah. The attack resulted in the killing of three individuals, among them were two young children, while several others sustained injuries.

Furthermore, a group of civilians in the town of Abasan Al-Kabira, south of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, were also targeted by Israeli bombardment, resulting in several injuries. The wounded were promptly transported to the European Gaza Hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, northern Gaza is now experiencing “full-blown famine”, the head of the UN World Food Programme says, as Israel continues to restrict the flow of humanitarian aid.

Besieged people in Rafah take to the streets and cheer on ceasefire talks in Cairo with some displaced Palestinians packing up their things in the hope of soon returning home.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) warned on Saturday against the psychological toll facing the children in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli onslaught on the besieged enclave.

“Children in Gaza are suffering devastating levels of stress,” said the agency in a statement on X.

“UNRWA team is working with children and adolescents to mitigate the impact of the horrors of war,” it added.

“Our counselors offer them hope and comfort,” the agency said, noting: “We have to protect their present and their future.”

“Ceasefire Now,” reiterated UNRWA.

Meanwhile in the occupied West Bank five people have been reportedly killed by Israeli forces during a raid on the town of Deir al-Ghusun in Tulkarem district, the Palestinian Health Ministry has said.

Four of those killed were between the ages of 32 and 45, the ministry added in a post on its Telegram channel.

The report comes hours after Israeli forces withdrew from Deir al-Ghusun, after a deadly 15-hour raid.

According to the Israeli government, 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on October 7 in southern Israel, and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
