Gaza, (AA, Aljazeera, Wafa): According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 195 Palestinians were killed by Israeli indiscriminate bombing in the last 24 hours in Gaza Strip.
The Ministry said total number of Palestinians killed since October 7 has risen to 25,490, including 10,400 children, 7,100 women and 63,354 injured. 7,000 Palestinians are still missing.
There was mass panic as Israeli forces issued evacuation orders for about 513,000 people crammed into an area in southern Gaza to flee elsewhere.
Medical sources tell Al Jazeera “at least 40” Palestinians were killed in Khan Younis over the day while Israeli bombings are preventing the recovery of “dozens” more bodies.
Israeli forces targeted a school in Khan Younis that was sheltering hundreds of displaced Palestinians, critically injuring at least eight people, according to Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud.
“We heard from paramedics and first responders that it was difficult to transfer those injured inside the school to Nasser Hospital … despite the fact it was a very short distance,” said Mahmoud, reporting from Rafah.
“The intensity of the bombing prevented the ambulance and paramedics from getting to the school … this is what we have been seeing since the early hours of this morning.”
As a days-long, intense Israeli bombing campaign continues in Khan Younis, the UN reports that almost 90,000 residents and 425,000 displaced people have been ordered by the Israeli military to leave certain residential areas in the city in southern Gaza.
The Israeli military has killed three Palestinian civilians in strikes on the headquarters of the Palestine Red Crescent Society in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, the organisation says.
“Three displaced people were martyred and two others were injured as a result of the occupation’s targeting in front of the northern gate of the association’s headquarters in Khan Yunis,” the medical charity wrote on X.
According to Wafa news agency, the Palestinian Red Crescent said that three displaced people were killed, and two others were injured, after Israeli fighter jets targeted the northern gate of the Red Crescent headquarters in Khan Younis.
According to medical sources, at least 50 people were killed and nearly 120 injured after Israeli airstrikes shelled the western areas of Khan Younis during the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the UN humanitarian office warned Tuesday that the Gaza Strip will “bleed to death” amid the denial of humanitarian access to the Palestinian enclave.
”The recurrent denial of access of humanitarian teams to northern Gaza is preventing the needed scale-up of life-saving operations,” Olga Cherevko, a spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said in a statement
”Today was the first time that we managed to reach Al-Shifa Hospital after five days of denied and aborted missions,” she added.
“Equipment, fuel, water and food are all in very short supply,” the spokesperson said. ”The doctors told us stories today of incredible courage of people’s strength and resilience and the suffering we saw coming here is unimaginable.”
She cited a doctor in Al-Shifa Hospital as saying ”we are so alone in this world; they have forgotten us. “The world must not grow numb to the suffering of the people in Gaza.”
”Unless we are enabled to with safe, meaningful and sustained access to these areas, Gaza will simply bleed out,” Cherevko.
According to Israeli authorities, 1,139 Israelis were killed in southern Israel by Hamas on October 7. 136 Israelis and foreign nationals are still being detained by Hamas in Gaza Strip.
