Gaza: 1,000 Palestinian civilians killed, injured, missing from deliberate Israeli airstrikes on Jabalia camp

London, (The Muslim News): Casualties from Israeli airstrikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip have risen to 1,000, according to the Ministry of Health. Israel used 5000 pound US made GBU 28 bunker-buster laser guided bombs to attacke the Jabalia refugee camp which killed around 100 Palestinian civilians.

Early Thursday, ministry spokesman Ashraf Al-Qedra said on Facebook that there were “1,000 killed, injured, and missing in the massacres in Jabalia,” located in the northern Gaza Strip, reported Anadolu Agency.

Gaza’s Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that an Israeli airstrike resulted in “400 casualties, including killed and injured, and the complete destruction of a residential neighborhood in the Jabalia camp.”

On Wednesday evening, Israeli fighter jets carried out another raid on the camp, causing extensive damage to dozens of homes.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said the indisciminate bombing of civilian Palestinians in Jalabiya camp, as a “war crime”.

“Given the high number of civilian casualties [and] the scale of destruction following Israeli air strikes on Jabalia refugee camp, we have serious concerns that these are disproportionate attacks that could amount to war crimes,” the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights wrote on X.

US actress Angelina Jolie wirting in her Instagram after the buster bombs used by Israel in residential areas, said Gaza was “fast becoming a mass grave” and accused world leaders “complicit in these crimes”.

“This is the deliberate bombing of a trapped population who have nowhere to flee. Gaza has been an open-air prison for nearly two decades and is fast becoming a mass grave. 40% of those killed are innocent children. Whole families are being murdered. While the world watches and with the active support of many governments, millions of Palestinian civilians – children, women, families – are being collectively punished and dehumanized, all while being deprived food, medicine and humanitarian aid against international law. By refusing to demand a humanitarian ceasefire and blocking the UN Security Council from imposing one on both parties, world leaders are complicit in these crimes,” wrote Jolie.

United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) called the deliberate bombing of Jabaliya camp in Gaza by Israeli bunker-buster bombs, 5000 pounds each, “carnage” and as “horrific and appalling”.

The statement of UNICEF said:

“The scenes of carnage coming out of Jabaliya camp in the Gaza Strip following attacks yesterday and again today are horrific and appalling.

“While we do not yet have estimates of the toll the attack has taken on children, people’s homes have been leveled, hundreds apparently injured and killed, with many children reportedly among the casualties.

“These two attacks follow 25 days of ongoing bombardment that have reportedly resulted in more than 3,500 children killed – not including today’s deaths – and over 6,800 children reportedly injured. This would be over 400 children killed or injured per day, for 25 straight days. This cannot become the new normal.”

Meanwhile, on Wednesday dawn, Israeli soldiers killed three Palestinians and injured many others, two seriously, in Jenin refugee camp, in Jenin in the occupied West Bank’s northern part.

Media sources said several armored Israeli military vehicles, accompanied by armored bulldozers, invaded Jenin city from several directions and headed to the Jenin refugee camp.

Media sources said the invasion is one of the largest invasions Jenin witnessed in its repeated invasions by the Israeli army, as hundreds of military vehicles were seen around the city before dozens advanced under heavy fire and after deploying surveillance and armed drones.
Military Apache helicopters also participated in the invasion before the soldiers stormed buildings around the refugee camp and occupied their rooftops to use as sniper posts.

According Ministry of Health, 8,805 Palestinians have been killed, inlcuding 3,650 children [one child being killed every 10 minutes], 22,219 injured, since October 7. In the West Bank, 132 Palestinians have been killed, 1960 injured since October 7. According to Israeli army 1,405 Israelis have been killed including women and children, 389 soldiers and police officers by Hamas military wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades and Islamic Jihdad. 240 Israeli soldiers, men, women and children were captured by Hamas; 57 Israeli captives have been killed by Israeli bombing according to Hamas.
